Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Church Records
In an effort to generate revenue to conserve its oldest and most fragile sacramental records, the Archives Department began publishing its sacramental records. Beginning with Volume 1 in 1978, the Archives has continuously published abstracts of the Diocese’s earliest baptism, marriage, and burial records. The Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Church Records consists of a 22 volume series which spans the years 1707-1900.
Individuals Without Surnames
Our newest series consists of abstracts of sacramental records of those who did not have surnames, namely slaves, Free People of Color, and Native Americans. The publication of these records is ongoing with two volumes published to date.
Roots of Faith: A History of the Diocese of Baton Rouge
In anticipation of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, the Archives Department contributed greatly to the publication of this illustrated history of the Faith in this area.
